FUNCTIONAL YOGURT ADDRESSES SKIN HEALTH (posted March 24, 225)
- Meiji is rolling out Meiji W Skin Care Yogurt to the Japanese marketplace.
- This functional fermented dairy beverage addresses growing consumer concerns regarding skin health.
- The yogurt is formulated with a proprietary blend of ingredients, including SC-2 lactic acid bacteria (Lactobacillus bulgaricus OLL1247 strain and Streptococcus thermophilus 3078 strain), collagen peptides and sphingomyelin. These components are reported to offer two benefits: protection against UV-induced skin irritation and maintenance of skin moisture levels.
- Preliminary studies suggest that the SC-2 lactic acid bacteria, along with collagen peptides and sphingomyelin, may contribute to skin health. A trial involving 67 healthy female participants aged 30 to 49 years old demonstrated that regular consumption of the yogurt could increase the Minimal Erythema Dose (MED), a measure of skin's resistance to UV exposure.
- In another study with 94 women aged 20 to 50 years, researchers found that the yogurt improved moisture content in the stratum corneum, suggesting potential benefits for individuals suffering from dry skin.
- The shot-style drinkable yogurt is designed for easy consumption.

Consumers scan the QR code on the package to learn the milkfat % for that particular container.Like all Alexandre products, the yogurts are 100% A2/A2, which refers to the beta-casein, one of the proteins in milk. For most people, A2 milk is easy to digest, as it's the same protein found in human breastmilk, sheep and goat milk."Many people who believe they're lactose-intolerant are actually A1 protein-intolerant," says Stephanie Alexandre, co-founder. "Those folks are so happy when they find us."As fourth generation dairy farmers with more than 40 years of experience, Blake and Stephanie Alexandre founded Alexandre Family Farm in 1988 and began bottling under their brand in 2017.For more information, link HERE.
